EVANSTON, Ill. – Michigan State football coach Mark Dantonio said in his pre-game radio show that Tyler Higby would go on the left tackle when the Spartans open the Big Ten Saturday at Northwestern.
Higby finished the 10-7 loss to Arizona State last week after a left knee injury, Kevin Jarvis, at the end of the second quarter. Higby started three games as a left tackle a year ago and has played both the guard and center during his career at MSU.
Jarvis was the third injured left tackle for the Spartans (2-1). Cole Chewins (back) and A.J. Arcuri (right ankle) remain in place.
“We can still move (the right starting tackler) Jordan Reid out there and Devontae Dobbs also in the mix,” said left tackle Dantonio.
The start is at noon against the Wildcats (1-1).
MSU is again deprived of CB Shakur Brown for the third consecutive game and DE Brent Mossburg for the second consecutive game. Moreover, OL Mustafa Khaleefah did not make the trip and we do not know why he is not on the list of 74 people.
